Arithmetic Workout
Perfoming basic arithmetic calculations quickly is a real brain-builder! Brain scans taken during sessions of fast arithmetic
show large sections of the cerebral cortex really lighting up with the effort. The associated research has shown that
this exercise improves memory function, and can even improve the functioning of the prefrontal cortex of people with
cognitive impairments. It is recommended that you perform this exercise 2-5 times per week, carrying out 5 or more
units (15 equations) of calculation each time.
