Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to us at Strong Brain (a web site operated by Applied Logic Systems, Inc.) This document outlines our policy concerning personally identifiable information about you that we may gather when you use our web site, and the ways we use and do not use this information.

Information obtained from technology

When you visit any of the pages of our web site, Strong Brain servers automatically record information including the URL, IP address, browser type, and the page that was requested. We may make use of cookies, which are small text files that web servers place on the disks of computers whose users visit web sites. We may use transient ("session ID") cookies to provide continuity from page to page; these cookies expire when you close your browser. We may also use persistent cookies to enable our servers to recognize your browser when you return to our site after your first visit.

Information obtained from user registration

A great many of the features on the Strong Brain web site do not require registration for their access and use. However, if you are interested in using certain features or services of its web site (for example, posting replies and/or questions on the Reading or Community pages, or having Strong Brain maintain performance records for you), you need to provide us with certain personal information about yourself, specifically, your name and email address. We use your email address to send your password to you (if you have forgotten it and request us to send it to you), as well as to send significant announcements concerning either your account, or the overall operation of the Strong Brain site. We will NOT send you any other email unless you request it using the user profile tools after you have registered.

User-requested record-keeping

We allow you to request (opt-in) that we keep records of your activities on our site in order to assist you in your use of the Strong Brain facilities. If you tell us (using the user profile setting tools) that you do NOT want us to keep such records, we will not keep any such records. If you later change your mind and tell us that you want us to keep records for you, we will start keeping the records at that time. If you have told us to keep records for you, and then change your mind and tell us you do not want us to keep records for you, we will stop keeping your records and will also endeavor to expunge your previous records in a reasonably timely manner.

There are two kinds of records you can ask us to keep for you:

• Performance records. Many of the Strong Brain pages involve activities which can be scored in one way or another, such as the Arithmetic Workout page or the Vocabulary and Analogy Exercises pages, or most of the game pages. For these pages we can keep such basic records as number right and wrong and time spent, or the number of games started together with number of wins and losses. On the user profile page, and on most of the exercise or game pages, you can request displays of your summary performance over time for these kinds of pages, allowing you to see the changes in your performance.
• Reading records. For the Reading page, we can keep a record of the stories you have downloaded, allowing you to easily determine which stories you have previously read.

Sharing and release of personally-identifiable information

Our purpose in storing any information about you is to provide service to you. Consequently, unless you explicitly request it, we will not send you email other than important information concerning your account or the operation of the Strong Brain web site. We will not share your personal information with third parties unless you explicitly request that we do so. Applied Logic Systems, Inc., acting as Strong Brain, may disclose any necessary user information, including personally identifiable information, if we believe that we are required to do so by law or that doing so may be necessary to protect the property, rights, or safety of ourselves, visitors to our web sites, or other persons.

Third-Party advertisements

Third-Party advertisements appearing on the Strong Brain web site are supplied by our web advertising partners, such as Amazon and Google. Once you have clicked on an advertisement and left the Strong Brain web site, the Strong Brain Privacy Policy no longer applies and you should read the privacy policy of the advertiser to see how your personally identifiable information will be treated on its site.

Links to external sites

Similarly, links on the Strong Brain web site to external third-party sites (in particular, on the Information page) are supplied for informational purposes only. Once you have clicked on any such link and left the Strong Brain web site, the Strong Brain Privacy Policy no longer applies and you should read the privacy policy of the third-party site to see how your personally identifiable information will be treated on that site.

Changes to the policy

We limit access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to access that information in order to provide you with Strong Brain services or to do their jobs.

We may amend this Strong Brain Privacy Policy at any time. If we do make any material changes in the way we collect, use, and/or share your personally identifiable information, we will notify you by sending you an e-mail at the last e-mail address that you provided us and/or by prominently posting notice of the changes on the Strong Brain web sites covered by this Strong Brain Privacy Policy. In any event, changes to this Strong Brain Privacy Policy may affect our use of personally identifiable information that you provided us prior to our notification to you of the changes.
